I have achieved several of my criteria, with an average grade of 6-7.
Assessing the criteria is fairly difficult as I should evaluate them as if the tournament actually took place, However, since it did not, I will assess them for the material I had at the time of the ‘taking action’ deadline.
Costs: I graded in the strands 7-8 as the deal with the club owner was excellent. I asked him for free courts and lights for the evening and he accepted. It was unexpected and superb. I feel like I’ve done a good job in being persuasive and relentless in the pursuit of a profitable deal.
Advertisement: I think that I grade somewhere between 6-8, probably a 7, as I spread news to friends, my coach asked around, I had also asked a professor to send a message to the school and Gaslini said that they would have put my flyer online. I should have hung more posters in clubs and in the streets. In this way, I might have also urged older people to join the charity event. In fact, I used mainly online tools, which do not target most of the older generations.
People coming: I had a list of 30 participants and other people were joining the tournament. I struggled a bit with organizing all matches and predicted the duration of each one of them. So, I needed to have a limit of registrations. Moreover, since I had 30 players, I did not achieve the excellent objective of 44 that I was aiming for, but still I need to consider the cause of this happening: covid. For these reasons, I’d give myself a 6.
Amount of money: If each one of the players was to be present during the tournament days, I would have collected at least 600 euros (30x20) plus the donations that some other club members might have made (I had some boxes for donations to put around the club). However, I need to consider the possibility that some people would not come and thus not pay. So, it can be an 8, but considering the benefit of the doubt, I believe I grade a 6-7. In addition, I had to establish a fixed ‘tax’ to enter the tournament and it was fairly high as it was 20. This probably prevented a lot of people from subscribing but at the same time, it helped me to organize my tournament and buy prices for winners.
The impact: Following my criteria strands, this criteria can be assessed with a 7-8. Although, I did not have the chance to really help Gaslini, the money collected would have sufficed to enhance, even slightly, the research against Kawasaki’s disease. Considering that I am a student, who only recently put himself out in the real world, my achievements are quite satisfactory.
