BRAINSTORMING AND DEFINING A CLEAR GOALI had plenty of ideas for this project and actually at the beginning, when I had really started to think of an innovative idea that could also challenge myself. So, I started thinking of which of my ideas could be challenging but still doable.
Thus, I started considering all the options and slowly narrowing down my mindmap. I came up with my final idea: organizing a tennis tournament for charity. It’s a tournament I’ll have in a club in Genoa and people of all ages will come and pay to subscribe. I’d like to have 20/30 people and make them pay at least 16€. It’ll be in doubles (tennis with 4 people; two for each side of the court). Through this project, I’ll collect a few hundreds of euros that I’ll donate to Gaslini’s hospital in order to help to find a way to increase antibodies in kids, so that they can fight covid-19 and Kawasaki’s disease. This project is highly challenging as there are many DPCM (Decreto del Presidente del Consiglio dei ministri ) and they are constantly changing, so I have to pick the right period and find a way to make this tournament. Furthermore, this project would also be challenging without the covid-19 situation, since there are many people to invite, I would still need to find a hosting club and cut a deal with the owner. |
PERSONAL INTERESTI’m really committed to this project as I’ve been playing tennis for more than 4 years by now and it is one of my greatest passions. When I play in a competition/tournament I always wonder how much time they need to spend to organize everything. Moreover, I’ve always liked charity and I’ve even had the chance to make real changes thanks to my school D.I.S. that often organizes charity events to help people in need. My inspiration was Roger Federer’s ‘Match for Africa’. He’s the tennis biggest celebrity and every year he organises a few matches in Africa to fundraise money for those in need. |
GLOBAL CONTEXT
Fairness and Development: "Sharing finite resources with other people and with other living things"
I’ve chosen this Global Context since my project is based on a charity event. Indeed, what could be more “Fairness and Development” than my project? I want to help people that need money and that have the right to live as ‘us’ (luckier people). I’ve learnt that nothing should ever be considered as granted and that we need to be thankful for what we have.
Then I’ve chosen an area of explorations, specifically: “Sharing finite resources with other people and with other living things”. Why? Since my project is about fundraising money for people that need help, in this case, my project has the goal to share a finite resource: money, with other people.
